CHENNAI, JAN. 21. iGate Global Solutions
opened its new 35,000 sq. ft. development centre at Guindy.
The facility was inaugurated here yesterday by Vivek
Harinarain, Information Secretary to the Government of Tamil
Nadu. iGate already has a 65,000 sq.ft. facility here.
Addressing the inaugural function, the Chief Delivery
Officer, iGate Global Solutions, Mohan Sekhar, said the
company was planning to make its Chennai operation as a
`Centre of Excellence' for J2EE and .Net, which would focus
on developing cutting edge applications for the manufacturing
verticals. As part of its plans to ramp up its operations,
the company has opened the new centre. He said iGate had
invested Rs. 7.50 crores in the new facility, bringing its
total investment in Chennai to Rs. 15 crores.
The Chief Executive Officer of the company, Phaneesh Murthy,
said the company's strategy had always been to move towards a
value-added intellectual property intensive model. As a
result, it had set up this `Centre of Excellence' model.
Apart from Chennai, iGate had operations in Bangalore,
Hyderabad and Nodia.
The company at present was in the process of completing Phase
II of its expansion at its 14-acre integrated technology and
operations campus in Bangalore.
