Venu Srinivasan, chairman and managing
director, TVS Motor Company, one of India's leading
two-wheeler manufacturing company was conferred with the
prestigious JRD Tata Corporate Leadership Award for the year
2004, by the All India Management Association.
The AIMA conferred this recognition to Srinivasan for his
contribution to Society and Nation at large, personal values,
ethics and corporate integrity in business. His display of
corporate courage and leadership, vision and support for
innovation and new ideas leading to the turn around of his
organisation. His ability to establish the right equilibrium
between business and its external environment in today's
context of an liberalized economy, were other factors
considered for conferring this award.
Srinivasan's relentless pursuit and obsession in achieving
total quality led to Sundaram Clayton and TVS Motor Company
winning the global quality benchmark of Deming Application
Prize. Venu Srinivasan is also credited with pioneering the
TQM (Total Quality Management) based on the Japanese model,
long before most enterprises in India . He is also credited
with the title 'Star of Asia' awarded by Leading
International magazine, Business Week in 2003. Additional
awards include Srinivasan being honoured with a doctorate in
Science by University of Warwick, United Kingdom. Additional

It is under his leadership that TVS Motor Company emerged as
a leading manufacturer of two wheelers in the world competing
against global two-wheeler giants by adopting a work culture
that can match the best in the world through persistence,
