Series of burglaries in Chennai

Chennai, April 17: At least ten cases of burglaries were reported in the metropolis last night, police said.

The cases included theft of money from a hundi in a temple in North Chennai area.

Miscreants broke open various flats in Purasawalkam area and decamped with jewels and cash to the tune Rs.2 lakh last evening.

Four chain-snatching incidents were also reported yesterday, the police added.

The burglaries were reported despite police intensifying night patrolling in the wake of increase in burglaries recently.
