Driving in Dubai is relatively simple.
There is an excellent road network,
usually with two to four lanes.
Strategically placed signs guide drivers
to various locales. Blue or green
signposts indicate main city districts,
and brown signs indicate places of
interest like heritage sites, hospitals,
etc. Roads are named with white road
signs but people rarely refer to street
names when asking for or giving
directions. Instead, landmarks like
hotels, shops, gas stations, or
prominent buildings are usually relied
on.
Driving on a license from most countries
or on an international license is
permitted, however the car must be a
rental. Make sure to leave all license
information with the rental agency. Cars
may also be hired with a driver. Prices
per day range from US$25 for smaller
cars to US$272 for limousines.

Taxis
Most taxis in Dubai are metered, relatively
cheap and very comfortable. Taxis are easy
to get and you rarely have to stand at a
road for more than a few minutes before a
taxi comes along.

Bus
There are over 30 bus routes serving the
main residential and commercial areas. Buses
run at regular intervals from 6am to around
11pm.
Boat
One of the most beautiful ways to travel
across the Dubai creek is by boat. These low
wooden boats are known as 'Abras'. They
can't travel to all the places a car can but
going anywhere in one is fun.
