The Department of Biomedical Engineering trains students in the
application of principles and practices of engineering, computer
science and mathematics to develop new methods that ultimately solve
medical problems in areas such as prevention, diagnosis and
treatment of disease and disorders.

The Otto H. York Department of Chemical Engineering provides a
unique focus for addressing some of today's most pressing
environmental and industrial problems. The department has been a key
factor in the development of NJIT as a nationally recognized leader
in environmental research and hazardous waste treatment.

The program emphasizes the planning, investigation, design,
development, application, management and evaluation of Information
Systems. The program trains students to be integral members of
application design and development teams and also provides exposure
to the state-of-the-art in IS research, so that students will be
prepared to work with both emerging concepts and technologies.
The PhD program in Information Systems is designed to produce
scholars who possess a commanding knowledge of the nature of
Information Systems, applications of and research on IS, and the
supporting technology in Computer Science. Graduates are expected to
be able to expand both the practice and theory of information
systems for complex applications and/or organizational environments.
Materials Science and Engineering - MS and PhD
The interdisciplinary MS and PhD in Materials Science and
Engineering programs focus on the properties and applications of
modern engineering materials, bridge academic research and
industrial development, and serve New Jersey’s technology-intensive
economy. Three areas of specialization are emphasized:

the needs of a rapidly evolving scientific and technological

Pharmaceutical Engineering - MS
The MS in Pharmaceutical Engineering is an interdisciplinary program
jointly developed by the Department of Chemical Engineering and the
Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering. The
Pharmaceutical Engineering program provides the intellectual climate
and the necessary tools needed to prepare students for positions and
career advancement within the industry, based on the rigorous
technological requirements of this highly regulated work

Transportation – MS and PhD
NJIT’s transportation program prepares students to plan, design,
operate, and manage transportation systems capable of satisfying
society’s complex transportation needs. The program trains students
to meet the technological challenges of new systems as well as
fitting these systems into the social, economic, and physical
environments in a manner that improves the quality of life for all.
