Civil and Environmental Engineering  
The goals of the program are to provide high-quality courses to prepare students for practice in government, industry, and private consulting; to provide a well-rounded education in the major discipline areas of civil engineering;to maintain an overall emphasis on design; and to foster interaction with the local industrial community.

Computer Engineering  
The computer engineering program is designed to provide a comprehensive background in computer engineering and offers an opportunity for specialization in the areas of digital electronics, VLSI circuit design, automatic control, computer architecture, communication systems, and microprocessor system design.

Computer Science
The computer science program is designed to provide a comprehensive background in computer science and an opportunity for specialization in software engineering, compilers for parallel architectures, distributed systems, software testing, term rewriting systems, software metrics, database systems, logic programming, and parallel computing.

Electrical Engineering
The electrical engineering program is designed to provide a comprehensive background in the electrical sciences and offers an opportunity for specialization in the areas of physical electronics, circuit design, electrical power engineering, automatic control systems, communication systems, computer engineering, optical electronics, and electromagnetics.

Engineering and Technology Managment
The department places heavy emphasis on developing students as the leaders of existing and emerging technologies. The M.S. program is for students who are moving toward technical management positions or need educational support for their work toward higher levels of management. The M.Eng programs are restricted to students concurrently holding full-time positions in industry.

Environmental Engineering
The graduate program in environmental and water resources engineering focuses on the analysis and modeling of natural hydrologic systems. An interdisciplinary background, in such fields as biology, chemistry, or geology, coupled with a civil and environmental engineering core sequence and original research, provides the background necessary to tackle complex environmental problems.

Mechanical Engineering
The mechanical engineering program is distinguished by its computer applications at all levels and emphasis on the design process. Students have the opportunity to participate in an internship through Multiple Engineering Cooperative Program (MECOP).
