Banking Should Be Simple
While managing your money is a part of life, banking
should not be something that consumes it. Finding the
right checking account for you means a convenient and
hassle-free banking experience while in school.
Compare These Criteria When Choosing a Checking Account
Convenience
Assess the hours of operation, the availability o
f
online banking, and location of branches and ATMs.
Fees
Be aware of monthly fees and ATM fees (both for a
bank's own ATM or another banks' ATM).
Availability of ATMs
Look for ATM networks to give you greater access to your
money.
Restrictions
Check for minimum balance requirements, or fees charged
for falling below minimum balance.
Interest
See if the account pays interest and, if so, note any
minimum deposit requirement.
Electronic Banking Services
Ask about the issuance of a check card, the acceptance
of check cards at store locations, the ability to transfer
funds (this is important if you need to receive money from
your parents), and the option of direct deposit.
Security
Check for deposit insurance (FDIC) and
state-of-the-art security.
