LSAT- The Law School Admission Test
Introduction
The Law School Admission Test (LSAT) is a 101-question,
multiple-choice, skill based test which assesses the
reading and verbal reasoning skills of applicants for law
school. The test is administered by the Law School
Admission Council (LSAC). The LSAT test is for 4hours-25
minutes. The fee to take the LSAT is $103.
About The LSAT
Test Description
The LSAT is composed of five 35-minute multiple-choice
sections and one 30-minute essay. It consists of:
Logical Reasoning Section- This includes two 35 mi
nute
sections, each containing 24-26 multiple-choice questions
focusing on analyzing and evaluating arguments.
Analytical Reasoning Section- This includes one 35 minute
section with 24 multiple-choice questions focusing on
logic games, basic logic and ability to make logical
connections and conclusions.
Reading Comprehension Section- This includes one 35 minute
section with 26 multiple-choice questions focusing on how
well applicants' understood the given passage usually
taken from the humanities, the social sciences,
philosophy, and others and the information in it.
Experimental Section- This includes one 35 minute section
with 26-28 multiple-choice questions focusing on either
Arguments, Logic Games, or Reading Comprehension. The
score in this section does not count towards the final
score.
Writing Section- Includes a 30 minute essay section
focusing on applicants' writing and presentation ability,
taking a stand on an issue and ability to argue a
position.
Score
The LSAT is scored on a scale
of 12
0 to 180, with an average score of 150. There are no
separate scores for the individual multiple choice
sections. Along with the LSAT score, applicants' will
receive a percentile ranking. This ranking compares
individual applicant performance with that of everyone
else who has taken the LSAT in the previous three years.
Note: Applicants'
can cancel
their LSAT scores at the test center by completing the
score cancellation section on the LSAT answer sheet, or
cancel scores by sending a written cancellation request to
LSAC within five days of the test. Score reports will
however reflect that scores were cancelled at applicant
request.

This test was created by the Law School Admissions Council
(LSAC or Law Services) to determine and measure the
critical reading and analytical thinking skills needed for
success in your first year of law school.
The LSAT consists of two parts; 175 minutes of
multiple-choice testing questions and a thirty-minute
writing sample. You will receive an overall score ranging
from 120 to 180 for the two sections combined.
