Shankar is known for his larger-than-life movies and
strong social message. Anniyan is no different from this for
it is one of the big budget movies ever to have come out in
Tamil filmdom.
Shankar's movies normally have all commercial elements
including humour, glamour, action and emotion besides a
strong message. In Anniyan too, he has dealt on rooting out
corruption.
According to director Shankar, Anniyan is a racy entertainer,
which is about a person who tries to bring a change in the
society.
Vikram, who is riding a high in his career after having won
the National Award for best actor for his Pithamagan, plays
the lead role.
The movie has been churned out for a period of over a year
and Vikram patiently waited to complete the project without
taking up other offers that came his way. He also has taken
pains to sport different make up and hairstyles to get the
right feel for his character.
Some people say that the film's hero has shades of dual
personality --- or at worst, is like the hero of Indian. That
is, he has an other side to him.
Vikram, who plays a lawyer, takes up all efforts to educate
the people and bring them up in their life. Sada plays his
ladylove. For the first time Shankar has associated with a
music director other than A R Rehman. Music for Anniyan has
been by Harris Jayaraj.
Some of the highlights of the movie includes a Thiruvaiyaru
Thyagaraja Utsavam being recreated, a song shot at annual
flower show at Amsterdam and another song shot in a huge
mountain painted in different colors.
Every scene in the movie has been shot in a grand manner and
at a lavish cost, says Shankar.
Cinematography is by Ravi Verman and Manikandan, art
direction is by Sabu Cyril, editing is by V.T.Vijayan and
stunts by Peter Hayen. Others in cast include Prakash Raj,
Nedumudi Venu and Vivek.
Producer Oscar Ravichandran has not baulked at any expense
and has spent money on the film without thinking twice.
Shankar says he is lucky to have got such a producer.
Most of the details of the film have been kept a closely
guarded secret.
And that is adding to the essential allure of the film.
Anniyan -
Will the Dream Team ( Director Shankar, Vikram and Harris
Jayaraj ) deliver a Block Buster ?
Director Shankar's previous movie 'Boys' struggled so much to
even enter the box office. The film’s criticism that it was
vulgar affected the box office. Oscar films Ravichandran too
suffered a setback with his films Jay Jay and Thendral. So,
Shankar and Oscar Ravichandran eagerly awaiting the box
office results of Tamil cinema Anniyan. Anniyan travel bills
alone has crossed Rs 22 lakhs. The films total budget is
estimated to be Rs 26 crore. IDBI has funded the film to the
tune of Rs 8.50 crores.
According to Director Shankar the story line of Anniyan is ,
"When we travel around the International Countries, We would
wonder about their economical status, Cleanliness, Life
Style, etc., We also would feel that why our country has not
grown like them..." The thought of this kind landed in the
story of "Anniyan". Vikram's Character is very new. It would
be shocking, action story, beautiful love, a very different
Vikram, and bright Sadha.
Anniyan crew painted 350 houses beautifully in Thenkasi for a
song, shot a song in Malaysian Airport for the First Time .
Anniyan team conducted a Carnatic Cutcheri with the help of
Kunnakudi Vaidyanathan, Arun and other numerous carnatic
musicians. Almost people would feel the Thiruvaiaru Cutcheri
Festival while viewing that song.
Who says Shankar can’t give his best outside A.R.Rahman’s
music fold? Along with Harris Jayaraj, he has made a whole
lot of young gifted singers like Nakul, Melvin, G.V.Prakash,
Harini, Leslie Louis, Andrea, Jassie Gift and veterans like
Hariharan, Shankar Mahadevan, KK and Vasundhara Das.
“Kannum Kannum Nokia…, Nee Kolai Kollum Mafia…, Cappacino
Coffee..a O’ Sofia…” sung by Leslie Lewis, Andrea and
Vasundhara Das.The Jassie Gift, KK, Shreya Ghosal number
“Andan Kakka Kondaikari…” is a typical folk ‘gana’ number.
The highlight of the album is “Iyengar Veetu Azhage…” sung by
Hariharan and Harini. Shankar Mahedevan and Harini’s soft
classical number “Kumari….” is another melodious number.
Let see whether Anniyan Team will deliver a block buster of
the year or just an ordinary film.

Aparichitudu all set to release on 17th
Vikram's highly anticipated venture Aparichitudu will release
on 17th of June. Oscar Films Ravichandran is producing this
film with Shankar as the director. The expectations are
running high on this one. The film is originally being made
in Tamil as Anniyan. Aparichitudu is the Telugu version.
Release is on 17th in both languages. Lakshmi Ganapathy films
will release this film in Telugu. As per the sources, the
film will release with about 150 prints. Highest for
not-straight-Telugu film. It is also learnt that Lakshmi
Ganapathy films paid a record amount to get the rights. Audio
of the film released recently. Haris Jayraj composed music.
Print is sent for censor on 9th June.
Anniyan released postponed to 17th June
Anniyan going to be release on 10th June !
Vikram's Anniyan going to be release on 10th of June.
Eventhough everything is ready to release anniyan, the
producer and the director delaying due to business reasons.
Their business idea seems to be a good one, because now there
is no competition for Anniyan, Since there is no opposition
of any sorts, the film is expected to take bumper opening all
over, irrespective of schools reopening. However a new
controversy has erupted with Ravichandran toying with the
idea of releasing Anniyan with more number of prints. The
existing theatres booked for the film fear that this idea to
increase the number of prints will eat into their business.
Chandramukhi and Anniyan : In par - Kollywood film traders :
Kollywood film traders never imagined an amount more than Rs
25 crore for a film, but Rajnikanth's Chandramukhi proved
them wrong as Chandramukhi poised to make nearly half a
billion rupees. The biggest beneficiary of Chandramukhi is
'Oscar' Ravichandran and his yet to be release tamil cinema
Director Shankar's Anniyan. Chandramukhi crossed Rs 3 Crore
even in an area where Rs 2 Crore is much high. As Anniyan's
trailer in theatres getting good applause , Anniyan film
producer plans to gain more money because of the craze for
the film. Even there is a news that US rights of Anniyan is
par to Chandramukhi
