Arjun
Rampal made his mark as a model while still studying in Hindu
College Delhi at the age of 17. He was discovered in a Mumbai
discotheque by ace fashion designer Rohit Bal. From there on,
he went on to become one of the most sought after model in
India, and ruled the ramp and ad-world for way over 6 years,
when in 1996 he decided to quit modeling and become an actor.
He did his schooling in Kodaikanal (Kody) in a boarding
school, and while growing up he did not have any
consciousness of his looks. He was a very mischievous kid,
and hence did not ever think about being good looking. He
says that when he went to college, he was the one who was
getting attracted to the girls in his class and not the other
way around. He says that he's always been confident about
himself.
When he was modeling, he always chose his work carefully and
didn't do too many ads. He was selective. Then, when he
decided to be an actor, he went to Kishor Namit Acting
Academy and learnt the ropes of acting there.
The first film he signed was Ashok Mehta's Moksha, which will
release next month. He later signed Shantanu Sheorey's Jadh,
with Jackie Shroff, but that film, as Arjun puts it, "has
gone to seed."
Arjun was engaged to be married to ace-designer Malini Ramani
from New Delhi, but the engagement broke off. Soon, he was
single but then, he met up with Mehr Jesia and it was instant
chemistry between the two. Now, he's happily married to Mehr
for a couple of years, and they are soon expecting a baby.
Arjun already has two dogs Tyson and one that Mehr gifted
him, Demi. They are both boxers and Arjun treats them like
his children. Arjun's mother is settled in Nashik in a
farmhouse and often visits him in Mumbai.
Arjun is fond of playing cricket on the computer, he loves
horse-riding, and 'horsing around' with close friends. Then,
he's also fond of go-carting and the few occasions he's been
to the Powai go-cart tracks, he's had a blast clocking in
under 10 secs for a lap.
Besides, Arjun had a lot of hype riding on him before his
first release. There were critics who were skeptical about
his acting potential. However, he proved all his detractors
wrong by making a smashing and impressive debut in Pyar, Ishq
Aur Mohabbat.
