The
Nescafe Classic commercial put Maushmi Udeshi in the
limelight. The model enamoured audiences with her long
flowing tresses. Her appearance in Bally Sagoo's 'Noorie
remix' video as a sari-clad spirit was equally impressive.
Maushmi launched her career in the fashion industry as a ramp
model for fashion institutes like NIFT and J.D. Institute of
Fashion Technology. Initially, she also worked with
designers, Krishna Mehta and Bhamini Subramaniam.
The realisation that ramp modelling is not as paying prompted
her to take up assignments in ad-films and music videos. Kit
Kat, Aristocrat Whisky, Taj Hotels, Bakemans and NIIT are
among her popular ad films. Her lovely face shows up
frequently and prominently in magazines like Femina,
Cosmopolitan, Elle and Verve.
Maushmi is a trained Bharatnatyam dancer. She is sincere and
passionate about the classical art. In fact, she says, "If I
wasn't a model, I would have been a classical dancer."
She would certainly love to act in films and has already
taken a step in this direction by shooting for a short art
film titled 'The Tight Rope Walker'.
Maushmi plays a girl 'in love with death'. Quite an offbeat
subject, that! Apparently, Maushmi seems satisfied with her
individual performance. The film has been selected for the
Venice Film festival.
Host Shekhar Suman recently invited her on his popular
celebrity talk show, 'Movers and Shakers'.
"My future lies in the film industry", she says. Having
bagged a few roles in South Indian films, which she feels,
have rich production values and are directed efficiently, she
is mulling over her next career move.
She wants to work with top directors in the South before
turning to Bollywood and, if everything goes right, even to
Hollywood.
