From the release of her debut album Miss India in 1996, Mehnaz has come a long way. The album and the track Main Hoon won her instant recognition as a singer with great promise. Then followed the Channel [V] award for Best female vocalist in the Indian Pop category, in 1996, and Mehnaz was well on her way to stardom.

Since then Mehnaz has been considered one of India’s leading Indian Pop singers and live performers. Mehnaz has, over the last three years clocked over 150 shows both in India and abroad. Though her busy touring schedule kept her from working on her follow up solo album, she stayed in the news with songs recorded for various compilation albums. Some of these include Raghupati Raghav Rajaram from Jogi and a solo track Dumadam Mast Kalandar.

Mehnaz also performed a couple of tracks on Sambhalke which was a concept album featuring Anaida and Tunisha. Her song, Paisa paisa paisa from the soundtrack of the film Bombay Boys was a smash hit. She also sang along with Malaysian star Iwan in Malay as well as in Hindi and both versions were a smashing success in Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore. Mehnaz got her big break when she featured on a duet with the internationally renowned duo Air Supply. The Song You Are written and composed by Graham Russell of Air Supply, is part of a soundtrack album for the English film Split Wide Open.

Her second solo album, titled Mausam , showcases a more mature Mehnaz both in terms of singing as well as selection of songs and lyrics, as evident from Mausam, Bhulo and Sapno ki duniya. Mehnaz is a hard worker who spends several hours a day rehearsing her vocal chords. Her added talent as a trained modern dancer is an advantage to her live shows. Mehnaz is poised to go places and she deserves every success.
