Payal, an engineering graduate won the coveted title of Supermodel Miss Tourism World 2001, despite stiff competition from 65 countries and made India proud. "Winning the pageant gave the required push," says Payal, also a Femina Miss India Finalist in 2000, who was always attracted to the glamorous world of modelling and fashion and when got the right opportunity gave up the engineering sector to pursue her dreams.

Payal was shot to fame with the Ad for Cadbury Temptations, which is her favourite modelling assignment as it gave the all-important recognition. Her other TV commercials include Jaguar Bath Panel, Dabur Amla Hair Oil, Nescafe Cold Coffee, Bajaj Pulsert Motorcycle, LG Refrigerator, Britannia Biscuit, Wright Pen, Gits Food Mix, Pass Pass Mouth Freshner, Zeista Tea, RPG Wings Sim Card, Spice Telecom. Payal didn't just want to be content with modelling and so she went on to do an Ismail Merchant Film Refugee (English), which is to be released in a couple of months. With lady luck on her side, the model-turned-actress got another boost when she was signed for Harry Baweja´s Yeh Kya Ho Raha Hai. Though Payal loves modelling and ramp walking and has done shows with the leading designers but still Payal will always be open for film offers since she also aspires to be an actress.
