Urmila
Matondkar was born on 4th February and started her career as
a child artist, appears in number of films including her best
Masoom in 1982.
Shekhar Kapoor's Masoom, is more remembered for the great
performances by the three kids who played Naseer and
Shabana's reel children in the film.
One of those three lively kids was Baby Urmila, an immaculate
little actress who delivered her dialogues with accuracy and
knew the right frames and angles of the camera. Shekhar,
apparently did not have to explain the shots too much to this
little girl.
The sparks were there, so when Urmila returned to films after
she grew up, she did not get scared to face the director and
the camera. All that she needed was good films to show to the
world that she was a capable and glamorous actress.
After a couple of inconsequential films came Ram Gopal Verma
as Urmila's saviour and Urmila never looked back since then.
Verma's Rangeela catapulted Urmila to the status of a glamour
queen. Her potential to dance and sex appeal discovered and
displayed by Verma in the film made Urmila an overnight star.
For those who say that Urmila is at her best only when she is
in a Verma film, the actress has proved her worth in films
outside the Verma camp like Judaai.
Urmila Matondkar is undoubtedly a talented actress, but it is
her great body, glamorous look and dance that give the 'oomph
girl' an edge in the cutthroat world of films.
