Vijay’s 40th film Thirupaachi is produced under the banner Super Good Films. This is their fifth film together and the earlier four worked magic at the box office. Trisha plays Vijay’s love interest in the movie. The two had earlier given the blockbuster Ghillli. According to debutante director Perarsu, “apart from glamour,Trisha for the first time has tried her hands in comedy and the result is outstanding”. The story takes place in the village Thirupaachi which is famous for its Aruval (long knife) and Sivagiri (Vijay) makes a living by manufacturing them. The movie, sans any punch dialogues, is a complete action oriented film laced with comedy. Perarusu says “The story is about the upright lifestyle of Sivagiri and the affectionate bond he has with his sister (Autograph fame Mallika). After Pasamalar this film would be the talk of town for sibling love and affection. Sivagiri feels that a brother’s duty towards his sister does not end with her marriage”. Perarusu had earlier worked with directors like Priyadharshan, Azhagamperumal and Dharani.

The first half of the movie takes place in Thirupaachi and the film smoothly sails over to Chennai in the second half. Vijay comes to Chennai to send off his friend to Dubai and stays in a Colony in Saligramam. There he meets Subha (Trisha) who also lives in the same colony. It is love at first sight for her but Vijay who is apprehensive about a city girl runs away from her. These scenes were taken in an elaborate set created in Mohan Studios by art director M.Prabhakar. Says producer R.B. Chowdhary “Budget was never a constraint for Thirupaachi and this is our most expensive project to date. The new dimension given to the brother- sister bond in this film will appeal to all section of audience. Since we are always lucky with debutante directors, Thirupaachi will also be a super hit and will create a box office record”. Kota Srinvasa Rao, Paspathy and newcomer Aryan play the bad guys in the film. The highlight of the film is a stunt sequence which required Vijay in a different getup. He took more than two hours to do the makeup for this sequence. The climax was shot for two weeks in Chennai. “This is the longest time taken for any movie” says Perarasu. Chayya Singh makes a guest appearance for an item number. Vinodraj (Vikram’s father) plays Vijay’s father and Sankarabaranam fame Rajalakshmi comes as Vijay’s mother. Autograph fame Benjaman comes as Vijay’s friend. Livingston, Vaiyapuri, Yugendran, Manoj K. Vijayan among others is cast in the film. The music is score by Dina. Apart from direction Perarasu has written the story, screen play, dialogues and lyrics. S.Saravanan cranks the camera. More than 100 days of shooting took place in Chennai, Karaikudi, Visakapatinam, Arakkuvaeli and South Africa. The film is slated for Pongal release.
