Wednesday, November 24, 2004 (Mumbai):
The US Consulate and the American Centre in Mumbai resumed
operations today, with official business being conducted as
normal.

"The office opened today and all business transactions are
being carried out as per the normal schedule", a US Consulate
spokesperson told reporters.
Visa seekers, who had to return home on Tuesday following the
sudden closure of the Consulate, were furnished required
information and other details, the spokesperson said.
However, the security outside these establishments continues
to be tight, sources added.
The offices had been closed as a precautionary measure
following an FBI warning of a likely attack on US
establishments in Mumbai and New Delhi.
The FBI anticipated attacks from an Afghan national,
suspected to be hiding in Hyderabad.
However, "nothing was found" in the input after the
Intelligence Bureau and Andhra Pradesh police carried out a
thorough investigation, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister R R
Patil said. (PTI)
