Shankaracharya's bail pleas to be heard



Monday, November 29, 2004 (Chennai):


The Madras High Court and a Principal Sessions court will hear the bail applications of the Shankaracharya of Kanchi Sri Jayendra Saraswati today.


The Shankaracharya is lodged in the Vellore jail as the prime accused in the murder of a temple manager Sankararaman.

He also faces charges for an attempt to murder a local auditor and former devotee of Kanchi Mutt.

Meanwhile, the police have reportedly launched an investigation into a third case against him involving assault.
