Cold wave conditions have intensified in northern India
with higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh, Uttaranchal and
Jammu and Kashmir receiving fresh spells of snow.
At least 15 people have lost their lives due to cold wave so
far.
Blanket of snow
Intense cold wave sweeping the hills of Himachal further
tightened its grip as the entire tribal belt and other higher
reaches were covered by a thick white blanket.
Bhang in Manali got 12 cm of snow while Solang Nullah and
Dhundi had heavy snowfall at 59 cm and 70 cm respectively.
All operations have also been suspended at New Delhi airports
due to poor visibility.
Flight schedules have been changed, with many flights to and
from the Capital having been delayed.
Change in schedules
Many trains have also been delayed, reported to be
running late by several hours due to the fog.
Sealdah Express is running eight hours and 15 minutes late,
while Lichhavi Express from Muzaffarpur to New Delhi is
running six and a half hours late.
Shramjeevi Express from Rajgir to New Delhi is also five
hours and 20 minutes late.
