(Chennai):
The Tamil Nadu government has moved a clarification petition
asking the Supreme Court to shift Kanchi Shankarcharya
Jayendra Saraswati to any state in North India where he will
have no access to the Mutt or Mutt officials.
The government said the seer should be ordered not to be
present anywhere in South India till the chargesheet is filed
in the Shankaraman murder case and the trial is completed.
The apex court had granted bail to the Shankarachraya on
Monday on the condition that he will not visit the Mutt till
investigations are complete.
But a large number of Mutt officials met him at Kalavai,
prompting the state government to move this petition.
Hearing adjourned
Meanwhile, the hearing on the anticipatory bail application
filed by the seer in a third case again him has been
adjourned till January 20 by the Principal Sessions Court.
The counsel for the seer, K S Dinakaran, agreed to the
adjournment after Tamil Nadu public prosecutor Doraisamy gave
an undertaking that the seer would not be arrested till then.
The Shankaracharya moved the sessions court for anticipatory
bail, apprehending arrest in the assault case on a temple
priest Tirukoshtiyur Madhavan in August last year. (With PTI
