(New Delhi):
The Supreme Court today directed Bihar to pay Rs 50 crore
more and Jharkhand to pay Rs 25 crore to employees of closed
PSUs.
The court has given the two states eight weeks to comply with
its order.
Today's court directive to Bihar, to pay Rs 50 crore to
employees of its sick public sector units, is in addition to
an earlier interim order.
In October last year, the apex court in an interim order told
the Bihar government to pay Rs 50 crore to employees of
defunct PSUs.
These employees, some of whom have not received salaries for
a decade, have filed compensation claims of Rs 1,400 crore in
the Supreme Court.
Some of these PSU employees have even committed suicide.
