The Ma Foi Management
Consultants Employment Survey says that Chennai is expected
to be the biggest job provider among Indian cities this
quarter. But unlike Hyderabad or Bangalore, the increase in
the number of jobs is not just from IT.
According to the survey, employment in Chennai will grow by
3.38%, Hyderabad will be next at 2.96%, followed by Ahmedabad
at 2.71%, Pune at 2.44%, Mumbai at 1.93%, Delhi at 1.73%,
Bangalore at 1.28 %, and Kolkata at 0.2%.
While IT and IT services will contribute the lion's share to
the increase in the number of jobs, projections show the
manufacturing sector, especially auto related sectors and the
tourism industry, set to increase their workforce.
E Balaji, Executive Director at Ma Foi Management
Consultants, says, "We also see that there is a sharp job
growth in the retail space, banking and financial services.
So the growth is coming from across the board, and not just
in IT, which we see as the trend in Bangalore or Hyderabad."
The survey also projects Rs 100-500 crore worth companies
increasing their work force by over 4%, followed by smaller
companies with a less than Rs 100 crore turnover, and then by
the Rs 500-1000 crore companies.
