If actor Vijayakanth started
a political party, Makkal Tamil Desam (MTD) will not be
worried at all, neither would other policital parties be
bothered about the new outfit', said Raja Kannappan,
founder-president, MTD.
Addressing the presspersons on the sidelines of a party
workers meet convened to prepare the ground for a district
level conference here, Kannappan said party alliances should
not be formed for elections, but have to be based on
ideological grounds. 'As of now, there is no change in our
coalition position,' he said.
So far 12 district conferences were held and through such
meets, he had the opportunity to interact with 12 lakh
workers of his party and the MTD was strong in 184 Assembly
constituencies, he said.
Electoral rolls should be enlarged only through proper
door-to-door verification of the claims by group
applications, he said. 'If those not eligible have applied,
strict action should be taken against them,' he said.
The peforamnce of the Central government was satisfactory,
though there were some omissions and commissions. 'The
problem of rising petrol and diesel prices have to be found
through an international meet,' he averred.
Stating his party would fight the problems of Tamils, he said
training will be given to workers to take up issues affecting
the pubic. State secretary Nallamani Rajamani, youthwing
secretary Thangamuthu, Tamilnadu Yadav Mahasabhai leader
Ramachandiran Maruthupandian and other distric leaders of
Makkal Tamil Desam were present at the workers conclave.
