  Microsoft Tech-Ed 2005 begins in Chennai

microsoft logoChennai: The Chennai edition of Microsoft Tech-Ed 2005, claimed to be India’s largest IT event for developers, server professionals and architects, began here today, with about 700 techies from in and around the city participating in the event.

The objective of the three-day event is to deepen the skill sets for Indian technical community, said Sheila Gulati, director (developer & platform evangelism), Microsoft.

The event would also showcase the upcoming products of Microsoft `Visual Studio 2005 and `SQL Server 2005, which would be launched in India before the end of 2005 calendar, she told PTI here.

"We at Microsoft see a momentum in IT in this country. Our objective is to take this momentum forward by deepening the skill sets for the Indian technology workers," she said.

Microsoft’s Tech-Ed 2005 would also help the technical community on how to maximise the use of existing technology on their computers. "This years event is unique as we have tapped into the local talent," said Prasanna Meduri (developer and IT professional community lead), Microsoft.

IT professionals from Microsoft and experts on Microsoft platform (working in other companies) are participating in the event, which will conclude on Wednesday.

Microsoft’s Tech-Ed-2005 will be held in five cities in India. The event, which was held on June 14 in Bangalore, will be held in Mumbai (June 23-35), Hyderabad (June 27-29) and Delhi (June 31-July 2), he said.
