Hurix Systems, a knowledge-based solutions
company, is to set up a development centre in the US and
another in Chennai that would go on steam before the end of
this calendar year.
These additions would result in the company increasing its
number of development centres to three, in addition to its
existing two centres, one each in Mumbai and Chennai.
The company would recruit around 3-4 personnel for its US
centre and employ an additional 150 personnel to its existing
200 staff in Chennai in the next six months, after the
completion of the new centres.
These would comprise project managers, institutional
designers ad software engineers, as the company has a
different sect of sales and marketing personnel.
Hurix’s existing development centre in the city comprises
4,200 sq ft of space and with the addition of the new centre,
it is slated to be around 10,000 sq ft.
“The new centres both in the US and India are being planned
under our expansion plans and the setting up of these centres
would help in diversifying risk, reaching out to more
geographical areas and providing better services,” Hurix
Systems chief operating officer Viswamitra Hariharan said.
However, the company would not incur much expenses on real
estate front as these places would be taken on lease. Hurix
has also plans to set up a second development centre in
Mumbai and add around 500 personnel by 2007, he said.
Setting up development centres in London and other countries
is also on the agenda. However, plans on this are yet to be
firmed up, he added.
The company is also aiming at securing a SEI-CMMI Level-5, a
quality assurance certification, by September 2005.
