Chennai: SlashSupport,
provider of advanced tech support solutions, has announced
expansion of its offshore operations in India. The company is
setting up it fourth offshore facility in Chennai. Currently,
SlashSupport has three delivery facilities in Chennai and a
redundancy center in Singapore.
As part of this expansion, SlashSupport has plans to hire
over 1000 IT professionals over the next 6 months in Chennai.
The new facility will become operational next quarter.
Commenting on the new facility, Shiva Ramani, CEO,
SlashSupport said, “We are happy to state that a couple of
the gobal technology majors have off shored their tech
support function to SlashSupport. These companies had
reviewed competitive offerings from major support providers
for several months on comprehensive evaluation metrics, and
we clearly come out ahead. As we do for several other of our
clients, SlashSupport will play the role, strengthening the
bond between clients and their end customers.”
Over the last two quarters, SlashSupport has also seen
existing customers expanding their outsourcing engagement
with them.
On the company's continued expansion in Chennai, Shiva Ramani
said “In Chennai, we have found the confluence of
technological depth, breadth of expertise, solid
infrastructure and a great attitude critical for a support
organization. Our offshore expansion in Chennai is in line
with SlashSupport's growth plans.”
SlashSupport service offerings include enterprise technology
application & product support, consumer technology
application & product support and system management services.
Alcatel, the global networking major had earlier this year
set up a simulation and testing lab at SlashSupport's
facility in Chennai at an investment of over $2m, as part of
its expanding engagement with SlashSupport.
As part of the investment, the company has already spent $2
million in setting up its fourth facility in Chennai which
will be operational in September this year. The 80,000-sq ft
facility takes the company's overall infrastructure in the
city to 1,80,000 sq ft. All investments are to be funded
through internal accruals.
“We are hoping to take our headcount to 3,500. But ultimately
it depends on the quality of the people available. It is all
about tapping the talent, train them and put them on the
production floor,” said Shiva Ramani, chief executive officer
of Slashsupport. The company currently has a customer-base of
20.
Of the 1,500 individuals that Slashsupport plans to add,
1,000 will be located in Chennai while the remaining 500 will
be recruited for a new facility to be set up in Coimbatore,
Madurai or Tiruchirapalli.
The tier-II city facility is scheduled to start operations by
the end of 2005.
Confirming that SlashSupport has no plans to move out of the
state and set up operations elsewhere, Ramani remarked that
the quality of talent available in the state was the only
cause for concern. “We have to invest in training to make
them employable,” he pointed out.
SlashSupport clocked a turnover of $22 million in 2004-05,
and expects to grow by 100 per cent in the current fiscal.
