Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP)
leaders in Patna, on Monday, threatened to challenge the
dissolution of Bihar Assembly calling it illegal and
unconstitutional and a move taken in haste and panic and said
it would take the matter to a court of justice after
consulting with its legal experts.
Party senior leader and a legal expert Arun Jaitley,
describing the latest turn of events as unfortunate and
unconstitutional, said the Assembly was dissolved when the
Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Lalu Prasad Yadav felt the
power was slipping away from his clutches. "The JD-U was this
close to forming a government in Bihar when the RJD chief, in
collusion with the state Governor Buta Singh, pulled the plug
on state Assembly," Jaitley said.
"We will fight the decision tooth and nail at both political
and legal fronts," the BJP leader said.
"Buta Singh has damaged the prestige of the Governor's post
by acting as an agent of Lalu and Congress. The reason the
Assembly was put under suspended animation was to explore the
possibility of forming a government in Bihar but Buta Singh
scuttled that attempt at the behest of Lalu Prasad Yadav and
Sonia Gandhi," Jaitley said.
