Stepping up the pressure, the CPI(M) at its central committee
meet in Kolkata today, warned the UPA once again, against any
hike in the oil prices.
The Left parties made it clear that they will take to the
streets in protest in case of any hike.
Though the CPI(M) and CPI agree over issues such as starting
fresh investigations into the Bofors scandal and oil price
hike, there are sharp differences between the two parties
over Bihar.
Bihar polls
While the CPI(M) is in favour a pre-poll alliance of all the
UPA partners, the CPI wants to go alone.
The CPI is unhappy with Lalu Prasad Yadav's RJD, especially
over the way they were treated during the last Bihar polls.
"We shall go alone if we are unable to have an agreement with
any party," said A B Bardhan, General Secretary, CPI.
But while there may be differences over Bihar, it is clear
that the Left parties will speak in one voice on economic
policy, especially ahead of next year's crucial elections in
West Bengal, Kerala and Tripura.
