Business Administration
The Associate of Science degree in Business Administration provides students
with skills in basic management, accounting, and computer science
applications. The program is designed to impart an understanding of
fundamental business management principles and to develop diverse business
knowledge. Students take classes ranging from Computerized Accounting to
Introduction to Human Resources.
As is the foundation of any successful business, emphasis is placed on
accounting. The accounting courses in the Business Administration program deal
with various aspects of accounting including accepted accounting principles,
accounting theory and applications, computerized accounting applications,
budgeting, cost centers, profit centers, home office and branch accounting,
and cost/revenue analysis.
The accounting courses also emphasize a practical understanding of corporate
accounting principals, bookkeeping, stocks, bonds, consolidations,
investments, and analysis of financial statements.
Computerized Business and Accounting:
Upon completion of the Computerized Business Accounting Program, the student
will have been trained in the necessary skills to:
Understand and use computer technology
Utilize word processing software Quickbooks, Peachtree
Recognize and apply accounting and bookkeeping principles
Design and manipulate electronic spreadsheets
Communicate financial and business data effectively
Professional Office Technology:
Upon completion of the Professional Office Technology Program, the student
will have been trained in the necessary skills to:
Understand and use computer terminology
Use business and legal terminology
Type an average of 35 - 55 words per minute
Understand how a typical office is organized
Utilize Microsoft Office software
Utilize the latest web browser software and electronic mail
