At Harrington, all of our interior
design programs are based on a cooperative enterprise between students and
faculty, encouraging full participation in projects, discussions and critiques.
Each program offers real-world experience in interior design that puts you in
position to begin a successful career - and courses that develop your individual
creativity.
Our student population is equally divided between day and evening students.
Students follow a standard 15-week semester system. Fall semesters begin in
September, Spring semesters begin in January and Summer semesters begin in May.
All of our programs are available & offered in three time periods to meet the
students' flexible schedules; 8:30-12:30, 1:00-5:00, 5:30-9:30.
The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design Degree
program requires 129.5 credit hours in both professional studies and liberal
arts courses.

The Associate of Applied Science in Interior Design
Degree requires 67.5 credit hours in both professional studies and academic
courses.The professional studies component of the program is designed for those
students interested in related fields or a career as a design assistant.

The Diploma in Interior Design is for students who need to start the program
part-time or are interested in the basic information in the field of Interior
Design and is not intended as a pathway to licensing or credentialing
Kitchen and Bath Design Certificate Harrington Institute of Interior Design is
proud to announce the addition of an advanced Kitchen and Bath Design
certificate* program. This program has been designed for those students who have
completed at least an associates program and/or for the busy practicing
designer. Based on the National Kitchen and Bath Association guidelines and
requirements, this program will help the practicing designer specialize in this
very exciting and rewarding industry. Flexible scheduling to meet working
designers schedules has been developed to facilitate advancement in the field.

Digital Photograpy Associate of Applied ScienceShare your talents for capturing
life through photography in the Associate of Applied Science Degree program in
Digital Photography at Harrington College of Design. This unique program was
created to prepare students for a variety of employment opportunities within the
innovative photography industry. Students start with a broad overview of basic
photography principles and techniques that enable them to compose distinctive
and technically proficient photographs. Plus, you can explore how to create,
enhance, and modify digital images with the use of computer software and
printing technology. As an added bonus to the Digital Photography program at
Harrington College of Design, portraiture, photojournalism, and commercial
photography are included in the program to help students cultivate and nurture
their own artistic style
History of Harrington Institute of Interior Design.
Since our founding almost 70 years ago, our sole objective has been to prepare
graduates for an active interior design role in today's industry - while keeping
an eye on tomorrow's human needs for responsible interior environments. We are
focused on professional education in the process of creating interiors in all
concentrations and institutional interior design.
How did it all begin?
In 1931, Miss Frances Harrington founded the Harrington Institute of Interior
Decoration. Three decades later, we changed our name to reflect the growing
scope of Interior Design practices.
Today, the Harrington Institute of Interior Design provides career development
and career training in interior design.

Accreditation
The Harrington Institute of Interior Design is an independent institution of
higher learning. We are recognized as a private college by the Illinois Board of
Higher Education and authorized to confer both baccalaureate and associate
degrees. Our accreditations include: Membser of the National Association of
Schools of Art and Design (NASAD) Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design
program accredited by the Foundation for Interior Design Education Research (FIDER)
We also boast a number of high achievers in both local and national
competitions. Harrington students: Have won four of the last six national awards
presented by the American Society of Interior Designers Yale R. Burge Student
Competition Annually participate in the Chicago Chapter of the International
Interior Design Association Gilbert Grants Competition, winning many
scholarships and honorable mentions. Have won first place in the Institute of
Store Planners (ISP) International Competition Is ranked 14th by The Almanac of
Interior Design & Architecture of all FIDER-accredited programs by over 300
employers nationwide.
