Western Governors University Online:

Higher expectations.
Without the high cost.
You should expect a lot from an online university. A high
quality program. A high level of personal service. A
commitment to make you a highly competent, employable
graduate. What you don't want is high tuition.
WGU can meet your expectations. We're different. WGU is
the country's only online competency-based university. As
a non-profit university created by the governors of 19
states to expand access to higher education, our TUITION
IS LESS THAN HALF what you would pay elsewhere.
Is WGU Right For You? WGU is ideal for the student who
needs flexibility and can thrive with a high degree of
independence. Working closely with faculty mentors
committed to your success, you will follow a personalized
program that allows you to accelerate if you have existing
competencies in your field of study or can commit
significant time to your program.

Accreditation
Western Governors University is the only university to
have received simultaneous accreditation by four regional
accrediting commissions.
Currently, WGU's "home" accrediting commission is the
Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities, the
same organization that accredits such leading institutions
as the University of Washington, University of Oregon,
University of Utah, BYU, and other public and private
colleges. WGU is also nationally accredited by the
Distance Education and Training Council (DETC).
