Temples in Chennai are a place of worship, a place that
represents the culture, history, tradition and heritage of
hundreds of years. As with the rest of the districts of the
state, Chennai is also known for some famous temples. Some
of them are:
Amman Temples:
Devi Karumariamman
temple at Thiruverkadu, Kalikambal temple at Parrys,
Mundakanni Amman temple in Mylapore, Ashtalakshmi temple at
Adayar, Kamatchi amman temple in Mangadu.
Murugan
Temples:

Ayyapan Temples:
Ayyapan/Guruvayoorappan
temple at Mahalingapuram, Kodambakkam, Raja Annamalaipuram

Anjeneyar Temple:
The 32-feet
Vishwaroopa Aadhivyadhihara Sri Bhaktha Anjaneya Swamy
temple at Nunganallur is famous all over Tamil Nadu and the
temples hosts many poojas and abhishekams throughout the
year, also notable is the prasadham that is available
throughout the day for all devotees.
Shivan Temples:
Kapaleeshwarar
temple, an age-old 8th century Pallava temple which is
known for its Dravidian style of architecture with
beautiful sculptures, and about 63 bronze idols of Saivaite
Saints or the Nayanmars. Madhya Kailash in Adyar,
Thenpureeshwarar temple - another age old temple in
Madambakkam is known for its rahu kala pooja.
Vishnu Temples:
The Vishnu temples
at Thirumazhisai, Thiruninravur, and Thiruneermalai.,
masilamaneeswarar temple at thirumullaivayil, Nithya
kalyana Perumal temple at thiruvidanthai are some of the
most famous temples.
