INGREDIENTS
300 gm white fish-cut into cubes
2 tbsp dhuli moong dal
6-8 garlic cloves
2 green chillies-deseeded
a pinch of sugar
8-10 curry leaves
1 tbsp lemon juice
½ cup fresh coconut paste
1 tsp salt
½ tsp turmeric powder
½ tsp garam masala
10 pieces of banana leaf-cut into 9 cm squares
METHOD
Dry roast the dal in a frying pan until light brown in color.
Prepare a paste of the roasted dal, garlic, green chillies,
curry leaves, sugar and lemon juice.
Marinate the fish in the dal paste, coconut paste and all the
remaining ingredients. Keep aside for at least an hour.
Wrap a piece of fish in a square of banana leaf along with
some of the marinade, like a parcel. Secure it with thread.
Repeat the same procedure with the remaining pieces of fish.
Place the fish parcels in a steamer for 15-20 minutes. Remove
the thread before serving.
