About
Kanha National Park
Kanha Jungle Lodge is near Kanha National Park. Kanha,
with an area of 1940 sq. km (740 sq. miles), at an
altitude of 460 MSL (1500 ft.) is situated in the State of
Madhya Pradesh, in the heart of India, a region that has a
rich habitat encouraging a wide variety of wildlife. A
forest of deciduous hardwood, including Sal is
interspersed with stands of bamboo and accented with
colorful displays of flowering trees. The valley and
plateaus are primarily meadow lands (or maidans) in
pleasant contrast to the surrounding lush woodlands.
Within their boundaries Kanha protects a multitude of
animals and birds, such as Chital, Chausinga (4-horned
antelope) Sambar, Muntjak (barking deer), Gaur, leopard,
wild-dog, gray jackal, wild boar, sloth bear and, of
course, the sovereign of the Park - the Bengal tiger.
Kanha also has rare and endangered Barasingha, a
hard-ground-adapted swamp deer, and the black buck
antelope.
Location
Kanha Jungle Lodge is just a short walk from Kanha
National Park, Mukki entrance gate at Teh Baihar. It
provides visitors with a truly exciting and rewarding
jungle experience.

Set in the midst of the Sal jungle, Kanha Jungle Lodge has
19 spacious twin-bed rooms, with all the modern facilities
of attached baths, running hot and cold water, and
comfortable furniture. Lodge nestles an 11-acre estate of
mature Sal forests, providing an ideal setting for bird
watching, of special interest to natural history oriented
travelers.

Park
Kanha Tiger Reserve comparieses
parts of the Mandla, Balaghat, Kwardha and dinodor
distrcts fothe Indian state fo Madhya Pradesh. It is
located in the Malkal hills of the Satpura hill range
Kanha is internationally renowned for its rich floral and
faunal attributes.
The Reserve is an excellent interspersion of the Dadars
garassy expanses, dense forest and riverine forest. It is
very rich in floral largely due to the combination of land
forms and soil types apart from the most character of the
regaion. The rich habitat diversity of the Reserve
suuports abundant animal communities and the lesser life
forms, The Reserve is the sanctum sanctorum of typical
Central Indian Fauna.
Kanha has distinguished itself in saving the endangered
Centeral Indian Barasingha (Cervus duvauceli branderi)
from extinction and harboring the only population of this
deer species in the World. Phen Wildlife sanchary (Phen
WLS) in the North East of Kanha has been made the mini
satellite core of the Reserve.
